The Breaky Creek is one of the most famous landmark pubs in Brisbane. Famous for two reasons. First off it is one of only a handful of pubs in Brisbane still supplied by XXXX Brewery with beer in wooden kegs, and secondly because of its steak.

The Breaky Creek is a great Sunday afternoon pub where everyone sits out in the beer garden throwing down a beer with a juicy steak and baked potato.

Sunday afternons don't get better than that.

The Breaky Creek has just been renovated. Now it has its own brand new nightclub. It's a swish addition adding a new dimension to its appeal.

    Theme: Eating and Drinking
Dress Code: Casual for the nightclub area. And very casual for the main bar area.

    Covered footwear. No Thongs.

What do you expect. Its a casual place for lazing about.

  • Nightlife Spot: The Pavilion

The Pavilion is one of Brisbane's best pool halls.

The place has a decent cafe/restaurant at the front of the building. You have to go inside up the stairs to discover what most come for. The Pool tables.

A mixture of 1/2 size and 3/4 size pool tables are available on an hourly rate. They just hold an indentification until you're done.

The variety of skills levels on display also varies, from the obvious hack to the serious pool shark.

Place is well suited to small to medium groups. Music is not too loud. On Friday and Saturday nights they sometime have a live band. Personally I go on a Sunday afternoon when the crowds aren't too big.

    Theme: Other
    Dress Code: definitely casual.

Although partly trendy in styling noone really cares what you're wearing.

Just avoid the obvious pitfalls ie no thongs/sandals, guys no singlets.

Fridays Bar and Nightclub: City Clubbing...
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Nightlife Spot: Fridays Bar and Nightclub

Friday's nightclub is one of the premier venues in the city.

Located next to big business along the river the nightclub has a fantastic outdoor area and 2 dancefloor areas.

Catering to the younger crowd the club is usually stocked with mostly university students except for earlier on Friday evenings when the business crowd go for a drink after work.

    Theme: Nightclub
Dress Code: The place keeps a strict dresscode. Mainly for the guys of course.

For girls it means less is best. Just smile and you'll get through.

Make sure you bring your ID.

Cover charge applies after 8pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

    The Pig'n'Whistle: Cold English Beer
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Nightlife Spot: The Pig'n'Whistle

One of the more recent additions to the city is the Pig'n'Whistle bar. Located at the Riverside Centre this bar caters for a mixed crowd. Part Univeristy students part older crowd.

The setup is good with some ourdoor seating and some indoor areas. Also has a restaurant area serving meals or snacks.

The dancefloor area isn't the best nor has it been the most populated when I've been there.

The toilets are unique with common hand washing area for men and women. Thankfully this forces the guys do lift their hygene standards.

    Theme: Nightclub
Dress Code: Dress code is enforced so no shorts collar shirts are the norm on Thursday, Friday., and Saturday nights.

What an informative, interesting group of pages about Brisbane. I enjoyed the "insider" insights. The Bridge is beautiful. Excellent restaurant tips.
