NORWAY is a huge country. The distance between the southernmost and northernmost point is the same as the distance from the south of Norway to Rome.
FJORDS AND LANDSCAPES are exceptionally beautiful. The definition of photography as a real presentation of the outdoor world doesn’t count here – you have to see it and experience it yourself!
DE_ICING is a procedure done at the airports to ensure normal operation of an aircraft. With their introvertness and shyness most Norwegians also need de-icing. After that you’ll find them as simple, serious and very helpful people.
PAPERCLIP is a Norwegian invention. Extremely simple and extremely useful.
THE SCREAM is the most famous painting coming from Norway. Apart from the winter darkness and coldness, there’s nothing else to scream about. (Well, maybe prices…)
PRICES in Norway are extremely high. There’s no point to compare them with prices in your home country. Once you compare the standard of living of an average Norwegian you’ll see why they accept one of the highest taxes in the world.
BUNAD is the name of Norwegian traditional dress. It is very colourful and there are many regional varieties. Norwegians like to dress bunads on special family occasions and on a national day.
PANCAKES can be eaten with fried bacon and blueberry jam. I realized that in Norway, the country where cheese is sweet and brown, day doesn’t start without waffles and frozen pizza is the most popular national dish.
MIDNIGHT SUN is a sun shining even at night, mostly disturbing you to sleep properly. Nordkapp is one point in Europe where you have to pay an entrance to take a picture in front of an official sign. There are million reasons why one should visit Norway, and quite a few real tourist traps.
TWENTIETH CENTURY was a miraculous time for Norway. They gained their independence in 1905, and found oil in 1960s. From one of the poorest European nations to the worlds best developed nation in less than half a century! And still, everything is simple as a paperclip!
