Ilok is the easternmost town of Croatia, located on top of the hill overlooking the Danube. This strategic point has changed many rulers that have all left their traces in layers of history of this small town.
The town is surrounded by slopes of Fruška Gora - a wine growing region producing some of the best wines that can be found in continental part of Croatia. Wine cellars and wine roads are one of the main reasons why tourists visit this place in Slavonia.
If not for wine, it is worth visiting Ilok for the views over Danube - in my opinion one of the best viewpoints in Croatia. |
