Hotel Turist: Hotel Turist Turist Hotel Review

Hotel Turist is the largest hotel in Varaždin. They have a large conference hall and because of its proximity to Zagreb this is a popular venue for various congresses and conferences.
I stayed here on several occasions - rooms are large and clean, most need a facelift which is what was just happenning (2006) in the other wing of the hotel.
Breakfast is usual and the restaurant chef is a winner of several national awards so you may try the lunch or dinner here as well.

Unique Qualities: Apart from some details in room decorations the most notable sign of the fact this hotel was built during the communist years is the game receptionists play with the guest. The game is called "Try to make me smile" and I warn you - whatever you try you will probably lose as there is no place for a smile in a serious job of a receptionist of the Hotel Turist!
