My visit to Cardiff was a short one. I spent only a day and a half after attending a conference in nearby Bristol. A day and a half was insufficient for London so I decided to visit the Welsh capital, which was a great decision. Although I surely missed lots of what Cardiff has to offer, its small scale (and my fast legs) enabled me to see most of its must-see attractions.
Cardiff is one of those places that I love: perfect in scale, with all attractions within a walking distance. But more important for me - you can feel its connection to the industrial past of Wales and the efforts it puts in creating a new image of vibrant post-industrial city. Former port docks are now an interesting display of contemporary architecture and this area is not only interesting to visit now but will be interesting to see in the next decades as future projects are shaped.
Plus, Cardiff is one of those cities that has a local VT Welcoming Committee which made me feel even more welcome.
- Pros:Walkable scale, pleasant atmosphere, vibrant Bay area
- Cons:"Mae'r haul yn disgleirio yn yr awyr las" doesn't happen everyday!

Interesting place ;) My friend just visited it not long away, was nice too see how it looks :) I was especially amazed by modern architecture.
You did well for such a stort stay! Next time, do visit inside the Castle. The combination of Bute's money and Burgess' genius created an amazing place, really worth some of anyone's time - even a non-castle person. leyle
heh heh heh. I'm glad to see someone else has had the white sky experience in Cardiff!
What a super page on Cariff! I've been a few times - saw a fabulous football match at the Millenium Stadium btwn Manchester United and Arsenal - what an amazing piece of engineering that stadium is! Nice juxtaposition btwn old and modern in Cardiff.
Wonderful page about Cardiff - the twin city of my home city! You were lucky! I'd love to visit too! Some day....
Excellent page! Cardiff looks like a wonderful city, and I especially like your tip and photo of the traditional breakfast. Best from New Jersey, Bill
i could quite easily stay in a pink hotel room LOL ;-)
Great pho....Oh, I mean to say: it's great to see a place with the view of an architect. I passed by Cardiff but never visited. As usual VT hospitality roars :-)
great tips!
As an apartment building, obviously not open to the general public, its not really a thing to do but something to see. And if it's so pretentious, why bother even mentioning it? As a resident, I take offence to your comments
