"Looking for the past" Dortkilise Koyu by tommix

Dortkilise Koyu Travel Guide: 2 reviews and 7 photos

Dörtkilise Monastry from the beginning of 10th century is close to Tekkale village of Yusufeli district. It's located in a gorgeous mountain valley and it's composed of a church, dining hall, seminar room and chapel. The building group was constructed under King Bagrat, who unified warring kingdoms of Georgia. It reflects the typical Middle Age Monastery pattern of the region.

For other examples of Georgian architecture in the area, please have a look on my Erzurum Ili and Ishan pages.
