State Capital Building - Oklahoma City
State Capital Building Oklahoma State Capitol Review

As part of a sightseeing tour around OKC, I visited the State Capital building.

The architecture is very familiar for these types of buildings but the public areas inside are worth a few minutes of your time.

Around the circumference of the dome can be found some magnificent large picture by Wilson Hurley depicting western scenes. Unfortunately, we were not permitted to take snaps of these.

More pictures in the Travelogue.

Oklahoma City National Memorial - Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City National Memorial OKC National Memorial and Museum Review

It doesn't seem quite right to describe this as a 'Must See' but it is most definitely something EVERY visitor to OKC should experience.

I have found that some of the most moving monuments in the world are those that are the most simple. The Vietnam Wall is one and the Oklahoma City National Memorial is, most definitely, another.

For me, the fact that I visited this memorial to the tragedy of one act of madness on September 11th, the anniversary of another, made the visit afftected me all the more.

The Memorial is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rangers are on site to provide information from 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. daily (Spring/Summer) and from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. (Fall/Winter)Rangers will not be available on Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's Days

I've added a Travelogue to give more pictures and information.

Bricktown - Oklahoma City
Bricktown Bricktown Review

Bricktown is the downtown centre for restaurants, bars & clubs.

It's a very popular as a lunchtime destination for OKC's office workers.

Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to see it during the evening but I understand that it very active during at night.

Chain & speciality restauarants abound so you will be able to eat out regardless of your culinary tastes.

If food isn't your thing, then visit to enjoy exciting Redwings baseball (AAA affiliate of the Texas Redhawks) at the Bricktown Ballpark (see the statute of Mickey Mantle outside), to stroll along the Bricktown canal, or to just enjoy people-watching

Address: Downtown Oklanhoma City

Directions: The area bounded by Main Street, Reno, Walnut and the Santa Fe Railroad tracks

End of the Trail - Oklahoma City

End of the Trail

National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum National Cowboy Museum Review

If you've ever loved those paintings that were shown at the start of the old cowboy pictures or the sheer beauty of a Remington bronze then I strongly suggest that you take a good long look at this wonderful museum.

I spent over 2 hours wandering round the several galleries and exhibits and would have spent more time if my bus tour hadn't had to be on it's way.

Oh yes, and I don't usually like gift shops, but the Museum Store offers a great selection of prints of exhibits and replica bronzes & statuary.

Museum admission is a paltry $8.50 (adults) with exensive free parking.

Open 9 am to 5 pm (Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day)

If you can't visit, the I urge you to check out their website which has images of a tiny part of their collections.
