Oklahoma has had a turbulent past. Originally thought to be dead country, the area was set aside as Indian Territory for Native Americans from across the US. In 1889 'white' settlement began, and a city of 10,000 grew up almost overnight. In 1928 oil was discovered in the state and the city became rich.
