Oklahoma has had a turbulent past. Originally thought to be dead country, the area was set aside as Indian Territory for Native Americans from across the US. In 1889 'white' settlement began, and a city of 10,000 grew up almost overnight. In 1928 oil was discovered in the state and the city became rich. I only got a small taster of this city so I strongly suggest that you head over to the Oklahoma City page of mrclay2000 for a complete, resident's view of this wonderful town. He's number one for a reason.
