Its damn hot in the "Top End" !!! Darwin is hot ! At least it is in November.
Darwin is a strange place. Although its one of the main Australian cities and has all the trappings of modern western civilisation it has something of a wild-west frontier feel to it.
There's not much to see or do in the city itself, but its the location for people to travel to in order to visit the Kakadu National park (see of the beaten track).
One of the saddest sites is the number of Aboriginal drunks hanging about the town. These are quite often the displaced generation of Aboriginal people, where the white settlers effectively kidnapped aboriginal children from their families to be educated and raised away from their culture and families. |
