Mirbat is a small village about 60 km east from Salalah on the coast road of Souhtern Oman, the area is very rough but very beautiful, mountains desert and sea.
The village itself is quite small a has a fort which has been reconditioned. In the neighbourhood of the village there are lots of other sites, The queen of Sheba's Palace, The Portugese Fort. But just travelling around the area can be enough to take in. If you are a diver it is worth speaking to people in Salalah to try and get a guide, I dived there for two and a half years nearly every weekend, with or without a boat it is definitely a place to see. When I talk to people who are there now, not many if any dive off boats now due to the 80 km trek to the diving area, its a shame because there are some dive sites there that put even the Red Sea to shame, and the beaches are just beautiful. Photos to follow.
- Pros:Beautiful scenery
- Cons:Not for the people who want luxury
- In a nutshell:The village is just the start
