With your meal you will very likely be served you bread like this. "Pan tumaca" in Spanish or "Pa amb tomàquet" in Catalan. What do you do with it? Well, First you cut one of the garcic cloves in half and rub it over the toasted bread. Then cut a tomato in half and rub in on the bread too. Then drizzle a good amount of olive oil and salt to taste and enjoy!! Now why isn't bread served like this everywhere???

Lorro Sat May 19, 2007 12:10 UTC ilargitxo, you are right, Also Pan con tomate but that is maybe not as specific for describing the Catalan way of doing the garlic and tomato. And like it or not in Madrid and outside Spain they use "pan tumaca" in some restaurants. | Paolo-Italy Fri May 18, 2007 00:32 UTC A beer in bcn? ;) | ilargitxo Sat May 5, 2007 17:26 UTC Continuation II: The trasnlation in spanish would be Pan con tomate (bread with tomatoe). Pan tumaca is the "fonetic " translation because Pa amb tomàquet souns more or less in this way. | acemj Wed Jan 4, 2006 04:02 UTC There's an escalator? ;-) Wasn't working when I was there!! Mmmmm. La Boqueria makes me hungry! |
