We got an update to a suite through our Belgian friend who was very well known by the manager of the hotel. One of the staff members brought us to the room but when he opened the door, there was a party going on in the room!!!. Then we went to another suite but the smell of perfume inside that room was unbearable, so we decided to take a lower class room in which we felt much more comfortable.
Doha is fast growing and a lot of hotels (including the R.C.) are best suited to business travellers and to a great deal of expacts, rather than to tourists.
The hotel confirmed us by e-mail there was a beach, but the so called beach was a small strech of sand. It's not the place to be for families with children.
The staff was friendly but not very helpfull, because the lack of training.
All in all, the hotel was new and nice but what it realy lacked was atmosphere and character. If you want to go to the Middle East for a wonderfull holiday in a fantastic hotel (and even cheaper) give Doha a miss and go to Dubai or Oman.
Unique Qualities: The garden with several pools was very beautifull. There was a splendid marina next to the hotel but I never saw more than ten boats, what means that watersport is practically nihil.
There are four/five restaurants, Porcini is a very good Italian restaurant with good service.
