Everyone needs to understand how important hotel safety is.
FIRE SAFETY :It has been said that you should never stay higher than the 4th floor because most fire trucks ladders do not reach any higher. Yet, I know that is not practical especially in Vegas. So make sure you know where the fire extinguisher is and the stairways are. Make sure to count the doors from your door to the stairways encase it gets too smokey and you cannot see.
READ: the info behind your door. Lots of wonderful emergency info to know. It also shows you where your room is and where the stairways are.
LOCK: your doors. Most hotels have great locks on their doors now. Use them. They give three locks, so use them. Do not stay in a hotel unless you have new locks. Some of the older hotles may not have them, so I would not stay in them.
LIGHTED AREAS: Stay in lighted areas of the hotel if you can and park your car in a lighted area if you can.
STAND TALL AND LOOK UP: Don't look vunerable and pay attention of where and who is around you. If you look confident and alert, your likely not going to be a target.
DO NOT: get in a elevator by yourself if you can. For women, do not get into a elevator with strangers if you can.
KEYS: Carry your car keys in your hands between your fingers so you can use them as a weapon just incase.
Just some tips to keep you safe!

I understand that some folks like to hang out at the clubs in some of the casino's and dressing up is probably a must. Yet, we I saw these gals where these 5 inch heeled shoes walking along the strip, well I think your nuts! Don't do it! Bring some extra shoes that might fit in your bag like a pair of cute sketchers. We saw a couple of gals carrying their fancy high heeled shoes, while wearing some sketchers that actually matched their outfits. I thought they looked really cute. Yet, some gals had these 5 inched heels shoes walking up and down the strip, but later that evening she was carrying her shoes and walking barefoot...figures, but now she was barefoot and that was not save.
So Ladies, you can look just as nice with some low heels shoes or even some flats. Your choice, the malls are huge and so is the strip.

As fun and exciting Las Vegas may be to many. There are many areas you need to always be aware of. Vegas has tried to make this area as safe as they can, but you need to be responsible for your own safety too. Fremont Street is exciting and fun, but I would recommend you stay within the confines of the main strip. When myself and my hubby ventured along Fremont street enjoying the Neon Displays they had along in the middle of the street, it was sort of outside the confines of the main area and we were a little uncomfortable. Although, we did not encure any trouble, but just something to think about. You should always keep that in mind even when in the parking garages on Fremont Street and the Las Vegas Strip
Stay in lighted areas and do not wonder off in areas you are not familiar with.

If your a Californian, you should be aware of the term "Get Away Fridays." That is what discribes the traffic on Fridays when heading towards Las Vegas. Traffic is bad and partly that is because between California and Neveda transportation departments are trying to update the highway conditions. Unfortunately because much of the Hwy 15 is buillt throught the mountains, they are literally blasting away the mountain sides to add more lanes. So traffice is terrible. So, please check the Caltrans site for current conitions.

There for a while Vegas really seemed to clean this up. They were trying to get more families to the area and it seemed you did not see very much of the risqué advertisements. Yet, I guess the casinos are trying to convey to the younger crowds now, the smut has returned. You will see nothing but risqué advertisement everywhere from billboards, buses, taxi cars, and the hundreds of adult newspaper stand that anyone can have access too.
Let us not forget, the people who are located all along the strip trying to hand out the adult cards. Everyone has a right not to take one and if you do, do not throw it on the ground. Throw it away in the trash. So if you have small kids, you may not want to bring them on the strip.

This is probably a no brainer. Yet, I cannot say enough, please be careful walking anywhere in Vegas. Everyone is in a hurry, especially the locals. Maybe it’s because they are impatient with the tourist! Who knows?! At least Vegas had the foresight to build many wonderful walking bridges from Hotel to Hotel. Yet, they need more.
There are still casinos and hotels pedestrians still have to walk to get to. Taxi cab are always in a hurry, so mind the cross walks. They are there for your protection. Way too many people running across the street on green lights or not heeding the crossing signs when it is safe for them to cross. Then seeing someone get irrate when they have gotten honked at loudly and maybe given a finger or two. Well..too bad! Cross when it says so and your given how many seconds you have left when it is safe and your righaway! You hear of many pedestrians getting hit on this road.

It gets extremely hot here during the summer months. Although, the casino's and hotels probably have bottle water for sale, your going to pay a pretty penny for it. We always carry bottle water of our own. We can fill up at drinking fountains and have a steady supply. It is sometimes muggy, so it makes it even hotter. So be prepared.

Plastics to Avoid
#3 Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) commonly contains di-2-ehtylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), an endocrine disruptor and probable human carcinogen, as a softener.
#6 Polystyrene (PS) may leach styrene, a possible endocrine disruptor and human carcinogen, into water and food.
#7 Polycarbonate contains the hormone disruptor bisphenol-A, which can leach out as bottles age, are heated or exposed to acidic solutions. Unfortunately, #7 is used in most baby bottles and five-gallon water jugs and in many reusable sports bottles.
Better Plastics
#1 polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE), the most common and easily recycled plastic for bottled water and soft drinks, has also been considered the most safe. However, one 2003 Italian study found that the amount of DEHP in bottled spring water increased after 9 months of storage in a PET bottle.
#2 High Density Polyethylene
#4 Low Density Polyethylene
#5 Polypropylene
Best Reusable Bottles: Betras USA Sports Bottles, Brita Fill & Go Water Filtration Bottle, Arrow Canteen
Better Baby Bottles: Choose tempered glass or opaque plastic made of polypropylene (#5) or polyethylene (#1), which do not contain bisphenol-A.
