Home of Six Flags Magic Mountain and tons of shops

Established in 1965 by the Newhall Land and Farming Company, Valencia has become one of the fastest growing housing communities in southern California due to its mountain ranch atmosphere and it’s very close proximity to Los Angeles, which makes it convenient for commuters. Founder Henry Mayo Newhall of Saugus, Massachusetts ventured his way to California in 1849 looking for a gold fortune. Instead he found success as auctioneer and with investing wisely in the railroad. He used his new wealth in buying up land and in turn it was passed down 143,000 acres in his death to his five boys who created the company in 1883. Since then, this company has created many planned communities that span through Newhall to Valencia. It now boast lots of business, shopping and housing commerce and is home of Six Flags Magic Mountain.

As a teenager we would drive down here and hang out. Or we would just cruise down here to visit a really cool motorcycle shop. I don't remember the name, but once I remember I will add it later. It was a sleepy community, but not anymore...WOW! It has evolved for sure! It is also as I have mentioned home to Magic Mountian. Another reason we cruised our way here. I haven't to the park in a very long time, but my hubby brings my oldest here every year and ride all the rides he can stomach....LOL! Not me, I am too chick anymore:-P!

Pros and Cons

Pros:Loads of shopping, restaurants, and a cool amusement park!
Cons:Traffic and be a bear down here, so take your time!
In a nutshell:Shopping galore!

Nice photos! I missed the downtown area when I was there with a wild bunch of French kids going to Magic Mountain, but would like to see it sometime.

Love the[as you call it, "dated" picture of you as a teen!] We have a "6-flags" here, too. At least it used to be called that.
