San Clemente in the 1920’s was an area of wide vast rolling hills, beautiful empty beaches, and lush fertile lands. Ole Hanson was a wealthy investor and had vision of a Spanish-style coastal resort town, his "San Clemente by the Sea". After buying over 2,000 acres of land, he brought investors to buy a piece of tranquility, an escape from the urban life. After being incorporated as a city in February of 1928, he eventually donated buildings to the community that included the Beach Club, the Community Center, the pier, and Max Berg Plaza Park. Sadly, the depression hit and he lost most of his holdings and including his beloved home Casa Romantica that was built on a bluff overlooking the sea. Ole Hanson died in 1940, but his legacy still lives in the city by the sea, his Spanish Village.

I had stayed in San Clemente in the 90s. It is still as beautiful beach town... I miss the beach and the people. Dana Point is another great place to visit too!!

A nice looking town. Too bad Ole Hanson lost his home in the depression.

Quite agree with you, Dee! This place is wonderful for relax and for spending several days walking along the pier and the beach. It's great you could do it!
