North Edwards Travel Guide: 2 reviews and 7 photos
Formerly known and Edgemont Acres or North Muroc, (still researching that fact) It is a little community just outside of Edwards AFB, and between California City to the west and Boron to the East just off of Hwy 58. I surmise like many communities in this area, began as little settlements due to the railroad, mines, and the base. They tend to call these areas bedroom communities, but I do not like that term.
These communities are still places where blue collar people call this their home and are very proud of where they live. Although, it may not be much to many who pass by, but many people settle here due to the stark desert beauty that surrounds them and they love being part of a nice quiet safe community.
Update: Sadly the firebugs cound not resist and this wonderful piece of art is gone. The owner tried to keep the place secured, but the firebugs won.
- Pros:Has charm!
- Cons:No services, not till you get to Mojave!

Dee, you must try and get EAFB to try and obtain the mural for posterity. What a find!
Interesting mural - I've seen the Space Shuttle in Cape canaveral and I've been fascinated ever since....nice small town you have here, Norman :)
Way to keep your stripes, Dee. Something tells me I mighta lost mine. ;)
I tell a great deal about you from this introduction, Dee...caring, kind, empathetic, to name a few. Loved information about the abandoned bar and the wonderful mural. This is what what travel is about..discovery and memories.
Did you know some of the Spacshuttle debris landed in Western Australia. It was a huge story when it occurred.
