"Lamont~" Lamont by Yaqui

Lamont Travel Guide: 2 reviews and 7 photos

Lamont is one of the sleepy little cities that lies just outside of Bakersfield. It lies within the fertile valley of the San Juaquin Valley, which is king to agriculture. Lamont was founded in 1923, when dust bowl migrants were looking for the Land of Milk and Honey. They found work here harvesting the vast fields and a new home. A post office did get established in here in 1947.

Most of these communities are predominatly hispanic, but not to worry because most do speak English.

Great they have the historical markers everywhere! Do you know what is growing in the field in your photo?

Hi Dee, the field normally has cotton, but to replish the soil, they will let it go wild. Then plow it under and replant. Thank you for stopping by!
