The Saguaro National Park is home of the beautiful Saguaro Cactuses that are known for their grandeur and beautiful white blooms. They grow in this region and as far south as Mexico along the Baja coastal desert.

The park consists of two districts the western and eastern consist of 91,327 acres. This area was home of the Hohokam Native Americans as long as 12,000 years ago where they made their homes, hunted and grew crops till around the 15th century they disappeared. In 1933 the Saguaro National Monument was established and in 1994 this park was made the nations 52nd national park signed by the President.

      Thanks for stopping by. It was so hot, but we drank lots of water and found shade to rest in. A really wonderful museum.

    Great page! Sound's so interesting here. Love all the sculpture's, and would like to see the Hummingbird's. Found interesting reading about the Saguaros, like you, I never knew about their needle's, always learning something new on here!

    Your tips and photos about Cactus Gardens reminded me my trip to Mexico last winter. Then I was full of impressions about Cactuses, haha, I had never seen so many and so different! Thank you Dee for sharing!

    Oh fantastic! More memories! I didn't see the cacti in bloom (was there in a February), but learned tons about plants and animals in the Sonora Desert Museum :-) Love the idea of sunscreen dispensers

    I love Saguaro as they look like cactus people. Many wonderful features in the Sonora Desert Museum. What a great place to spend the day and they even provide sunscreen.
