El Rey Inn: Nice Old Motel on Cerillos Road Compare Rates
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • The El Rey is a historic hotel out on Cerrillos road, which means it is not close to the Plaza. You need a car to get to the Plaza. It is built like a motel with adobe architecture but has many types of rooms/suites scattered around spacious grounds. The lobby, dining areas and rooms are southwestern decor and very nice. The prices are reasonable for Santa Fe. It is a good place for kids too.

Unique Qualities: Beautiful grounds with a greenhouse, gardens and children's playground.

Las Palomas Santa Fe: Nice B&B in Great Location
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • Las Palomas has apartment-like rooms with gas or kiva fireplaces in a quiet neighborhood near the Plaza. Don't judge this place by what you see from the street. The common areas are very nice and there is plenty of parking. The entrance is in the back courtyard, along with the parking.

Unique Qualities: Las Palomas has a patnership with the Inn of the Anasazi and the latter's services are available to Las Palomas' guests. Although I said the rates were about average, that still means expensive when you are talking about downtown Santa Fe. It is only about three blocks to the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum.

La Fonda Hotel: Important Spot to Know in Santa Fe Compare Rates
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Although I have attended conferences, eaten in the restaurant and met people at the La Fonda Hotel, I have only spent the night there once and that was many years ago. The biggest advantage of the La Fonda is its convenient location at the southeast corner of the Plaza. This has been true throughout its long history. Not only is it a good meeting place, but also the hotel parking is cheaper than the city lots (e.g. $2.00 vs. $3.60 for two hours).

Unique Qualities: There are many interesting and unique shops in the La Fonda. Don't miss the ones along the underground hallway to the south.

Ok, if we had dinner, it would be a toss up between Gabriels and The Ore House, I love a good steak, but mexican food is right up there on my list of fav foods.

Totally agree! This is a Fabulous restaurant. I am craving hot green chili but, I live in Tennessee where the only green chili we can get is in a can and is mild! uck.

Hope some day to visit Sante Fe. I will for sure see the staircase and eat at the "best New Mexican restaurant in the world."
