Cuba Area Visitors' Center

The National park Service has a nice little Visitors' Center in the middle of town. There is also a well-done Cuba Area Visitors' Guide online.

Jemez Mountain Trail

The signboard at the Cuba Visitors' Center describes the Jemez Mountain Trail, which was designated a National Scenic Byway in 1998 because of its geologic formations, ancient Indian ruins, Indian pueblos, and evidence of the area's mining, logging and ranching heritage.

History of Cuba, NM

The area was originally settled in 1769 by 35 families as part of the San Joaquin del Nacimiento land grant. Originally known as Nacimiento or La Laguna, it was renamed Cuba when the post office was established in 1887.
