What I Did in Siem Reap Province

I was in the province of Siem Reap on 18 - 24 Mar 2009. I took the Mekong Express bus from Phnom Penh to the city of Siem Reap. First, it was NH7 along the Mekong River to Skon and then NH6 to Siem Reap. It was a six hour trip with a rest stop at Kompong Thom (about halfway). NH6 is relatively straight north of Kompong Thom and it is a little over an hour's drive before you reach Siem Reap Province. The following is what I did while I was there:

Day 1 - Bus ride from Phnom Penh to Siem Riep;
Day 2 - Self-guided Siem Reap walking tour including Psar Chaa (Old Market), downtown, Wat Preah Prohm Rath, the riverfront and Wat Bo;
Day 3 - Baksei Chamkrong, Angkor Thom, The Bayon, The Baphuon, Phimeanakas, Terrace of the Elephants, Chau Say Tevoda, Thommanon, Eastern Baray, Ta Prohm and Banteay Kdei;
Day 4 - Angkor Wat, Banteay Srei, palm sugar making, Banteay Samre and Eastern Mebon;
Day 5 - Chong Kneas floating village on Tonle Sap Lake, Phnom Krom village, Krousar Thmey Foundation, Wat Thmei and Preah Khan; and
Day 6 - Peng Thai’s land, Phnom Krom hill, Wat Phnom Krom and Western Baray
Day 7 - Flight from Siem Reap to Kuala Lumpur.

Organizing My Visit Under VT Destinations

The VT database has the following destinations that are appropriate: Khett Siem Reab (province), Siem Reap, Angkor Thum, Angkor Wat, Phumi Banteay Srei, Phumi Tonle Sab and Ruines d' Angkor. I decided to organize my tips like this:

Khett Siem Reab (province) - Bus ride from Phnom Penh to Siem Riep;
Siem Reap - Self-guided Siem Reap walking tour including Psar Chaa (Old Market), downtown, Wat Preah Prohm Rath, the riverfront, and Wat Bo; also the Krousar Thmey Foundation, Wat Thmei and Peng Thai’s land;
