Happy New Year 2006 Sydney

Dusk is Begining to Fall for the Last Time 2006

Our View for the Fireworks

The Emerald City of Oz Lights Up

As the other half of the world are fast approaching their own New Years Eve, Australia is second off the planetary rank for the countdown. And we have just woken up [ well some of us have yet still to get to bed ] from another breathtaking night of NY Celebrations on our beautiful harbour. This years theme was the Wizard of Oz's Emerald City, Oz being Australia [ of course] and Sydney the Emerald City. The Harbour Parade of lights was made up of a procession tall ships decked out in emeraled lights that we could see for the entire 180deg vista and took over an hour to pass by. Lucky us if you are going to have a NYE party on Sydney Harbour, than having a friend with waterfront and bridge views is the way to go.

More Fireworks

View facing across the harbour South. This is only a smidge of the night. Someone got so snap-happy there was no battery left for the midnight show. Waiting on pics from friends camera's to update further...
View from Milsons Point southwards to the City CBD

The Barges Ignite

This year there were 4 barges on the harbour instead of two, and the sky lit up like it was the Sydney Olmpics all over again. Only problem was twisting the neck to try and watch which part of night sky was going to flower next

Happy New Year

Farewell drinks for another Aussie traveller

I get back home and its time to start the farewells for a friend who is off to Europe for 3 months. WISH I could go, but earning the income that supports these jaunts has to get prioritised somewhere.

Hi Laura... it's been a while since we've spoken. How are you doing? I like your new passport photo. I'll have to send you some senior portraits of our daughter Sara, on your other address. Sara graduates from high school this year.
