Nightlife Spot: THE STRIP

A Helicopter Flight Over The Strip At Night Is An Absolute Must Do When You Are In Vegas.

I Had Never Been In A Helicopter In My Entire Life So When I Booked This Trip A Few Weeks Before I Was Due In Vegas I Was Really Excited About It & I Was Not Disappointed.

My Flight Cost Roughly $50 Which I Booked On Line Where There Are Lots Of Websites Selling This & Similar Night Flights.

I Was Picked Up At My Hotel About 30 Mins Prior To My Take Off Time & Driven To Heli-USA's Office Where I Paid For The Trip Before Being Driven To The Heli Port A Short Distance Away Not Far From The Luxor Hotel.

We Watched As A Couple Of Other Flights Landed & Took Off Before We Were Next And Were Led To Our Helicopter And Helped Aboard.

After A Few Instructions We Were Soon Airborne And Heading Northwards & I Have To Say I Was So Surprised At How Smooth The Flight Was As I Really Expected It To Be A Lot More Turbulent Than It Was But No It Was Like Gliding Through The Air And Not In The Least Bit Scary.

We Fly Up And Around The Stratosphere Hotel Before Heading Downtown To Fremont Street & Then Southwards Right Down Past Mandalay Bay And Back Up To Our Landing Pad.

The Flight Lasted Approximately 15 Minutes Covering About 22 Mile's With The Pilot Talking To Us Through Headphones & Willing To Answer Any Questions We Asked.

You Are Not Allowed Flash Photography On Board The Helicopter Because It Can Interfere With The Pilots Vision So Use A Camera Without A Flash Or Better Still A High Speed Film That Will Capture The Neon Lights Much Better.

It Was Without Doubt A Fantastic Experience & One Of The Best Things I Have Ever Done In My Life & As I Said Earlier You Must Do This If You Get The Chance Because Its A Spectacular Sight Gliding Over The Neon Lit Strip At Night & I Will For Sure Do It Again On My Next Trip.

Dont Book This Flight Direct With The Helicopter Company As They Charge You Over $70 So Book It Through "LOOK TOURS" Where It Will Cost You Only $50.

Nightlife Spot: Luxor Theatre

Blueman group is probably the most unusual show i have ever seen,as well as being the loudest and one of the best.

To try and describe it is not easy although i can say its basically 3 bald men with blue painted heads who play a variety of wierd instruments,and make them sound amazing.

The show is a mixture of comedy, music, theatre and art amongst others,with some spectacular special effects including some fantastic lazer work along with plenty of audience participation.

There is quite a lot of paint or something similar used during the show and because of this the front 5 rows of the audience have to,or are advised to wear plastic coats and hats.

The 3 blue faced stars of the show are well backed up by very good musicians dressed in some weird costumes, and the whole cast puts lots of effort and energy into proceedings.

There are usually 2 shows nightly at 7.00pm and 10.00pm,with tickets costing $82.50 and $93.50.

After the show the 3 stars wait in the hall where they are more than happy to pose with you for a photograph,exactly what i did as you can see from the picture on your left.

All in all a most unusual and very enjoyable show,and although not the cheapest in town its definitely worth seeing and money well spent.

Since writing this the Blueman group have moved up to the Venetian hotel.

The Strip After Dark Is A Wondrous Sight Lit Up From Top To Bottom With What Seems Like A Million Neon Colored Lights.

One Of The Best Places To See The Entire Strip At Night If Not The Best Is At The Stratosphere Hotel's Observation Tower Which Standing At 1.149 Feet Is The Tallest Freestanding Observation Tower In The United States And Twice The Height Of Any Other Building In Nevada.

The Tower Is Open From 10.00am - 1.00am Sunday To Thursday And 10.00am - 2.00am Friday And Saturday And Costs $9.00 (5 Pounds) To Gain Entry Unless Your A Nevada Resident In Which Case Its Only $4.00.

When You Enter The Elevator You Are Transported From Ground Level To The Observation Decks In Less Than 30 Seconds In Double Decker Elevators Traveling At Speeds Of 1,800 Feet Per Minute Or Three Floors A Second And You Hardly Know Your Moving They Are That Smooth Although They Do Cram A Few In At Busier Times.

Once You Depart The Elevator You Enter The Indoor Deck Which Is 857 Feet Above Ground.
There Are A Few Benches To Sit On As You Relax And Take In The Views Through The Glass Windows That Are Angled Outwards As Well As A Snack Bar, 2 Gift Shops And A Couple Of Telescopes To Give You Close Up Views Of The Strip.

To Get To The Outdoor Deck Which Is 12 Feet Higher You Just Climb A Few Stairs And Your Outside 869 Feet Above Ground Level With The Best 360 Panoramic Unobstructed Views Of Las Vegas Anywhere In Nevada So Get Your Camera Out And Start Clicking Away.

I Went To See Rita Rudner At The New York New York Hotel And She Was Just As Funny As I Expected From Seeing Her Occasionally On Tv In England Over The Past Few Years Or So.

I Intended Seeing Her Last Year On My First Visit To Las Vegas But She Was Sold Out So This Year I Booked A Month Before I Arrived To Be Sure Of Getting A Ticket.

My Ticket Cost $49.00 And For That I Got A Very Funny And Topical 80 Minute Show From A Great Comedienne Which Had Everyone In The Audience Laughing Our Loud Time And Time Again.

She Pokes Fun At Almost Everything Including Herself As Well As Las Vegas And On The Porn Peddlers Who Hand Out The Brochures Along The Strip She Remarks And I Quote

"They Never Pay Attention. One Guy Tried To Hand Me One Of Those Things With Two Nearly Naked Women In Bed On The Cover While Saying, 'How About Showing Them A Good Time?' And I Said, 'How? Would You Like Me Take Them Shopping? Because It Looks Like They Need Some Clothes." Lol.

The Theater Itself Is Small And Cramped With All Of The 450 Seats On One Level Which Does Not Give Good Views To All And Because Of This She Is Compaigning The Ny Ny Management To Get Stadium Seating Fitted Which Is Badly Needed.

Also Every 5 Minutes Or So The Manhattan Roller Coaster Rumbles Above Though If Your Engrossed In The Show Like I Was You Hardly Notice It.

Certainly Worth Seeing This Very Funny Lady And I Would Be More Than Happy To Return Again In The Future.

I Spent A Night At The Improv Comedy Club At Harrah's And Had A Great Evening With Many Laughs From Each Of The Three Comedians Playing That Night.

There Are 2 Shows Nightly At 8.30pm And 10.30pm And Tickets Are $27.45 (15 Pounds) For The Show Only Or $38.42 (21.00 Pounds) Which Includes A Buffet Dinner Before The Show.

You Must Be 18 To Gain Entry And Some Of The Comedians Do Get A Little Risky To Put It Mildly So If Your Easily Offended This Might Not Be Your Sort Of Show.

The Theater Is Quiet Small And Cosy And Is First Come First Seated Which Is Good If You Want To Get Close To The Stage Although You Are Likely To Get Picked On If You Do As I Did But It Was All In Good Fun And Enjoyable.

There Is A Drinks Service With Waitresse's Coming Around Often Taking Orders At Your Table.

Definitely A Must See If You Enjoy Comedy And As They Change The Line Up Regularly You Can Go On More Than One Occasion And See New Talent Each Time And Who Knows They May Become Famous Some Day As Lily Tomlin, Robin Williams, Jonathan Winters, Adam Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld, And Drew Carey Did To Name But A Few And They All Started Their Careers At A Comedy Club Somewhere In The Usa.

There Are Quiet A Few Topless Shows Playing In Las Vegas At Any One Time And The One I Chose To See Was Midnight Fantasy At The Luxor Hotel In Their Wonderful Theatre.

Basically Its A Series Of Fantasies Played Out To Music And Dance With A Few Variety Acts Thrown In At Various Times Including Quiet A Funny Comedy Impersonator.

Of Course The Main Point Of The Show Is To Titillate And This Is Done By The Girls Gyrating Provocatively And Exposing Their Breasts At Every Chance Which Is Fine By Me.

To Be Honest Its Very Tame Really And If Your Looking For Something A Little More Hardcore Then Maybe You Should Try A Strip Joint Or One Of The Many Escorts Available In Las Vegas.

Tickets Cost $34.99 (19.00 Pounds) Plus Tax And Show Times Are 8.30pm And 10.30pm Tuesday, Thursday And Saturday With One Show On Wednesday And Friday Starting At 10.30pm And Finally Sundays One Show Starting At 8.30pm.

Obviously Being An Adult Show Means You Must Be Over 21 To Attend.

Being A Fan Of Abbas I Wanted To See This Show When I Was First Here In 2003 But Could Not Get A Ticket So When I Returned In 2004 I Booked A Ticket From Off The Internet Before I Arrived To Be Sure I Would Not Miss It This Time Around.

The Show Takes Place Inside The Wonderful Mandalay Bay Theatre And Without Giving To Much Away The Story Is Set On A Mythical Greek Island And Revolves Around A Young Woman Who Is About To Get Married.

As The Sometimes Funny And Sad Story Unfolds 22 Of Abbas Greatest Songs Are Sung Along The Way By Various Members Of The Cast And For The Finale Of The Show A Few Of Abbas Best Loved Songs Are Played With All The Members Of The Cast Singing Along As Well As The Audience Standing And Joining In The Fun Also.

If You Like Abba You Will Love This Show And Even If You Are Not A Big Fan You Will Still Enjoy It I Promise So Take A Chance On Me And Say I Do I Do I Do I Do I Do.

Tickets Vary From Around $80.00 - $110.00 And Though They Are Not Cheap Its Well Worth Money Money Money In My Opinion.

Showtimes Are Monday To Thursday Inclusive At 7.00pm With Two Shows Playing Saturday And Sunday At 5.00pm And 9.00pm.

Situated In between Harrahs And Imperial Palace You Will Find The Carnival Court Which Is An Outdoor Piazza Full Of Vendors Selling All Sorts Of Items Including Gifts And Food Which Are For Sale From 10.00am Until 8.00pm Daily.

You Will Also Find The Carnival Court Stage Here Where There Is Live Music Being Played By Various Bands Throughout The Day From 12.00 Noon Until Midnight And Dont Worry If It Gets A Little Chilly Because Even Though Its Outside Its Climate Controlled.

You Can Dine And Drink And See Some Of The Best Flair Bartenders In The Land Showing Off Their Skills And There Is Always A Great Atmosphere And Best Of All Its Free.

I Actually Stayed At The Imperial Palace Hotel In 2003 On The 3rd Floor Which Was Directly Above The Court So It Was Lucky I Did Not Need Much Sleep With The Music Blasting Out Until After Midnight.

In Any Other Town Other Than Las Vegas This Would Definitely Be A Nightlife Tip But As It Is LV We Are Talking About Its More An Around The Clock Tip Because Only Here Do You See People Eating, Drinking And Gambling At Such Bizarre Times.

I Myself Have Been Eating Steak And Eggs At 5.00 In The Morning, Drinking At Times I Would Never Dream Of Doing Back Home And Of Course Gambling At Any Given Hour Be It 8pm Or 8am.

Of Course The Casinos Love People Drinking As They Gamble Thus The Reason There Are So Many Slots At The Bars And Also Why Waitresses Walk Around The Casino Offering Free Drinks To Anyone Who Is Gambling Or At Least Looks Like They Are.

Anyway I Guess The Motto Of This Tip Is Your In Vegas Man So Go Ahead Eat, Drink And Gamble Whenever You Can And Just Enjoy Yourself Because Very Soon You Will Leave And Return To The Boring Conventional World.
