Nesebar Travel Guide: 222 reviews and 629 photos

Nessebar used to be an island, but now there's an artificial connection with mailand. It is one of the oldest cities in the world and protected by Unesco.
First inhabitants were Thracians in 3000BC, then Greeks who lived for some time together with Thracians. Later came Romans, Byzantines and finally Slav tribes. Till the early 20th century it was an important trading town.

Today it’s filled with endless crowds of tourists. If you want to avoid them, you have to come here early in the morning.

The island of Nessebar is 850meters long and 300meters wide and it's got as many as 80 churches or chapels. Most of theme are in ruins nowdays.
All the houses are build in Bulgarian national revival period style, that is ground floor made of stone, and the wooden upper floor.
