"Beach Known Eternally for Fish" Neskowin by glabah

Neskowin Travel Guide: 1 reviews and 11 photos

In the "local native language" (it does not say if this is Chinook inter-tribal language or a tribal language) the word Neskowin means "plenty fish".

Today, it is a reasonably popular beach location, but it is also a somewhat lesser known one. There are vacation homes and condominiums, but the town itself isn't extremely large or over invaded by visitors.

In 1979 Harold and Elizabeth Hirsch purchased a Haida (a tribe in British Columbia known for its large wood carvings) style fish totem that symbolizes their coastal community. It is now on display at the Neskowin State Park parking area.
