"Lighthouse with Wildlife" Cape Meares State Park by glabah

Cape Meares State Park Travel Guide: 17 reviews and 77 photos

Cape Meares is the home of a small lighthouse and a day use state park set among the coastal forest.

In January of 2010, severe damage was done to the lighthouse by vandals, who shot out the windows and the First Order Fresnel Lens.

There are great views out to sea from here, but don't expect there to be much in terms of beach access. It is possible to see Three Arch Rocks (a very unique series of rocks with three natural arches in them) as well as Pyramid and Pillar Rocks. If you are interested in birds, be sure to search the rocks and cliffs thoroughly during the summer period with your telephoto equipment. This is a common nesting place for Common Murre and various other sea birds.

This is my kind of Park! Nice walks, incredible views, wildlife, the fascinating Octopus Tree and a shop chocked full of interesting souvenirs, I couldn't ask for more!
