"Only a Brief Glimpse into This Culture" Bolivia by glabah

My primary activity while visiting Bolivia was as part of a volunteer service team. Therefore, I didn't get to see too much of the countryside.

The flight I took landed first in La Paz, then went to Santa Cruz, and then returned back north.

La Paz was an amazing place, even without having left the aircraft. The elevation of the city itself is very high, but it depends on where you are in the city to give an exact elevation. However high it is, there are impressive mountains on the north side of the city that tower even higher, and the fact that the airplane didn't have to go through much of a descent from its cruising altitude in order to land in La Paz was enough to impress me.

Though I spent most of my time around the Santa Cruz area, our group did get taken into the hills a few times for various reasons. Once was a visit to the then-lesser-known community of Samaipata. I understand that today the place is nearly a tourist trap environment.
