|  | There are some increadible preserved buildings in and around the city, and it pays to spend a day or so looking around to see all the unusual things.
Just because the huge, impressive churches in Moscow, built in the 1400s, have onion domes doesn't mean the same domes were not part of more humble, older churches scattered across the countryside.
