Small Commercial Center with Mission Hospital

by glabah - last update: Oct 16, 2008

Bomet serves as a commercial center for farmland
Bomet is not all that much different than a number of the towns along the paved highway between Nairobi and Lake Vicotia. The city sits at almost 8000 feet above sea level, so as you walk places you will probably feel it if you haven't some time at high altitudes before.

It serves as a commercial center for the surrounding farmland, and while there are most certainly interesting and unique features and characters of this community, as there are in any community, we didn't get a chance to see or meet any of them.

Except One

Several miles northeast of Bomet is the Tenwek hospital, which has become reasonably well known as a missionary operated hospital. They do allow some tours of this operation, and we were lucky enough to be able to visit for a brief time.
