Savannah had been on my list of places to travel to for quite some time. However, every time I thought about returning to the Deep South, I opted for New Orleans instead. Since I'd just been to New Orleans in September, 2009, I took a mini mid-week vacation to Savannah in mid-October as a little birthday present to myself.

The Fountain in Forsyth Park

When I think of Savannah, Spanish moss, squares, fountains and horse carriage rides come to mind. That is exactly what I found upon arriving there. Savannah is a more genteel version of New Orleans.
