It is customary to throw three coins in Trevi Fountain -- one to return, two to fall in love, and three to marry in Rome. The coins are to be thrown with your right hand over your left shoulder. This quaint custom was said to have started in the 18th century.

Rome's greatest amphitheatre - A definite must see! The Coliseum is composed of tiers of arches and half-columns of Doric design in the first story, Ionic design in the second story, and Corinthian design in the third story. It was designed to hold 50,000 spectators, and a canopy for shade was suspended over the top.

La Bocca della Verita means "The Mouth of Truth." It is located inside the portico of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, and was featured in both the film, "Roman Holiday," as well as "Only You." You are to insert your hand in its mouth and, if you're dishonest, your hand will be eaten! I was lucky enough to have my hand returned -- honest person that I am!

One of the best-preserved monuments of classical Roman civilization. This temple to all the gods was constructed by Hadrian in the early 2nd century. There is an opening at the top of the dome, thus the floor is slightly curved with a drain in the center to catch the rain when necessary. The Pantheon is now a church dedicated to St. Mary of the Martyrs.

The Piazza Navona is set off beautifully by another fine work of Italian architecture (the man in the Sisley ad)!! Designed by Bernini in the 1600's, this piazza is popular with both Romans and tourists.
