TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN

It is possible to climb right to the top of Mt Teide, you can go up by cable car then carry on to the summit by foot, then walk down if you wish, the walk however takes about 4 - 5 hours
If you do wish to walk up to the summit you will need a permit which must be applied for at least three days in advance
please be aware that the footpaths may be closed due to snow and ice

If you do wish to go hiking in the national park you must keep to the paths, the volcanic rocks are fragile and dangerously sharp

Equipment: wear good walking boots and appropriate clothing, it is chilly at this altitude
