It doesnt take many steps from the busy tourist areas to find yourself walking along a quiet path by a narrow canal, no shops selling glass and masks, or stalls with plastic gondolas, just peace every so often you will turn into another back street and meet another tourist, you will look at each other and smile before going your seperate ways to solitude or you will hear a child in one of the apartments, or see someone at a window looking at you, yet another stranger, walking past their home its cooler in the back streets and you can wander till you are refreshed and ready to fight your way among the crowds again, or find a little bar for a cold beer you wont be the first tourist to find these places, thousands have walked these paths before you, and thousands will after you, but for a little while they will be your secret places
