Akubra hats are one of the symbols of Australia, and the Hattery has a great selection of them. The poor lady who served us was really patient, my husband must have tried every style of hat at least once, and she was very honest about what did and didnt suit him
there was no pressure for him to buy the more expensive ones, in fact the one we all agreed suited him best was one of the cheapest. The shop also sells woments hats and accessories, and has a good range of Driza-Bone coats and jackets

What To Buy: it rained a great deal when we visited so we bought Driza-Bone coats, they really kept us warm and dry, and of course a hat

What To Pay: we paid 49AUD for the hat, which seemed to be the average price
the Driza-Bone coats were 175AUD but they were actually cheaper [ 130AUD ] in Cairns, possibly because they are manufactured in Queensland

If you have ever dreamed of dressing up as a bushranger or gangster, or as a show girl or crinnolined lady then this is the place for you

indulge your fantasy from the selection of costumes, and the photographer will set the scene and take several shots for you to choose from, the photographs are then transformed by computer into sepia tinted images

be aware that this is something of a spectator sport, you will probably get quite a crowd around watching you being photographed
