The mountains are blue because when the sun shines on the gum trees the air gets a blue haze when the oils are released from the leaves.........of course you see this in many parts of Australia, but the Blue Mountains are an ideal place to see it, and a beautiful place to visit

Katoomba is the largest town in the Blue Mountains, but it still feels like a small town, it has great facilities for hikers and visitors, and is a great base for exploring the area

Love the tips... takes me back to my visit in Katoomba... nice to know that where I walked, years later you guys walked too... and then long after we all met - in Canada! - small world indeed! Love to see you in happy days.
Great tips, Berni! :-) I'll be visiting Katoomba next week. Not sure whether I'll have a couple of days there or try and cram it into a daytrip from Sydney. Looks very nice, but I guess it's a fair bit colder than Sydney!
