Limerick is the third largest city in Ireland. It is located in the South West of the Republic (about 20 minutes drive from Shannon Airport).
It is mainly an industrial city and is usually not top of the priority for tourists. Limerick is usually a stop over for travellers going to or coming from the West of Ireland.
Limerick has a bit of a bad reputation, but it really is not as bad as people make it out to be. It has the nickname "stab city" but its crime rate is much lower than many other Irish cities. There a some obvious trouble spots in Limerick which I have named in Warnings and Dangers. |
