"Oh my oh my.....where are we???" a Mauritania Travel Page by Inga78

When working for a charter airline you can get into all kinds of situations and you go to such different places that you have to be flexible...I have tried to keep an open mind while traveling and itīs not easy beeing a flightattendant and having to have to adjust all the time but we do our best. Now this flight started a disaster...It took us 2 hours to get the passangers to sit down in theyr seats in Jeddah one crew memeber got beaten with an umbrella and one got slapped. We were out of time by a few minutes and almost illegal to fly but we decided since the passangers had sat down that we would close doors and depart. We figured after all this hard work we would enjoy a cold beer at the hotel in Mauritania..The people made us earn our salary that evening. They were spitting and pissing on the floor arguing sleeping in the iles where we were trying to work so it was the longest 9hr flight I have done in my life. One man told me that alot of the people live in the Sahara and are close to cave men so I shouldnīt be shocked by theyr behaviour. Once I knew that I understood it all better.

Finaly the flight was over and we arrived at the Halimal Hotel. Half the rooms were ready and they woke up some guy to make the dirty once ready... They new we were coming but did not start cleaning until we came which pissed a few people of since we were so tierd from the difficult flight. We figured we would have a beer while waiting only to be disapointed to find out that the stupid hotel did not sell beer! My god I thought we would loose it! I finaly got my room and the bath was not clean and my towels were dirty....NICE!!! I was over tierd and jumped on my bed and fell asleep in my uniform with my own blanket since I wasnt sure if the bed was clean. Not a very nice day for us....

Woke up and joined my crew for breakfast along with a few cocroaches in the restaurant...lovely! We couldnt find our senior cabin crew member so we went to town to find a bar to have a few beers and relax. We found a bar pluged in my ghettoblaster and put on Dione Warwick and orderd our wine and beers.. Sudenly the door opens and in comes our fabulous senior Aziz and we were like Oh oh...werent sure if we were alowed to drink when he says "thank god you guys found a bar, I had a guilty consiense because I found one to and have been there for 2 hrs enjoying a few drinks" so we all sat down talked and got all the bad things out of our systems. We went back to the hotel and had dinner and then it was back to bed to get ready for our flight the following morning back home to Jeddah...I have never been so happy to go to Jeddah and we thought it was so funny because we could usually not wait to leave Jeddah to go to anyother place....
