I just have to write about my stay in Jeddah. I was there last year for 4 months, flying from jeddah to Indonesia with pilgrims. The weather is great there. I stayed there from january - april so it was a good change from Icelands cold winter. Shopping is exellent, especially when shopping for gold and jewelery. They measure the gold and set the price by weight. They also have nice antique markets or in the souq as they call it. Shopping is grand in Saudi Arabia and I was surprised by the grandness of it all. Alot of the buildings, cars and restaurants reminded me of America which I found a bit funny...Another thing which I canīt forgett are the art decore on the roundabouts. The Saudis have made very funny(some of them) and then some which are breath taking arts. Especially the big globe which they light up at night. I lived by the red sea so going to the beach was no problem. I canīt remember my neighbourhoods name but it was called the m&m compound close to Rose Village. Saudi Arabia was definetly a different stay for me, it can be hard sometimes to live there but usually it is what you make it. If you go by all rules and respect theyr culture you will be just fine. I have mostly good memories from there. I would definetly like to go there with my family to show them the mistery of Saudi Arabia.
