"Nashik-The Vineyard of Western India" Nashik by bkarjee
Nashik Travel Guide: 8 reviews and 6 photos
After having spent more than 6 years in this vibrant little city, I am still not sure whether to spell the city as Nasik or Nashik. Whatever the spelling, I found the city to be vibrant and moden, with a fading rural outlook. Climate is one of the major attraction of this place and one of the reason for many retired persons to decide settling in this place. It is well connected to Mumbai by road and railway and is just 4 hrs away. The train journey is thro' the Western Ghat section (Shayadri range mountains) and offers very good view of the valley during monsoon. The famous Ajanta and Ellora caves are less then 200 kms away.
Nashik offers excellant accommodation facilities in all range, but I would highly recommend the Taj Hotel to anybody intending to visit Nashik for a day or so. It is a very reasonably priced 5 star hotel with beautiful 10 Acre garden. The food in the 'Panchratna' restaurant is the best beyond doubt in Nashik.
