City of Contrasts-Bangkok

Urban Nightmare

The great wall of the earstwhile monarch's seat
Bangkok is a city of contrasts. At one side, there are metamorphosing skyrises , huge shopping malls, sky trains, MRT's, night life and all the comforts of developing urban centre and on the other side, the dirt, touts, polluting vehicles, traffic jams, and other malaise that infects or dwarfs the good side of the city. Traffic jams in Bangkok city are probably the worst in this side of the world. The recent advancements in the public transports system like the Sky train, Mass Rapid Transit train (the undergroung metro) comes to a rescue of such stranded people, and then there is a good ole' river transport system, nurtured by the locals and attracting curious onlooks by the tourists.

Pros:"A good connecting point for flights into South East Asia, people are very helpful, courteous and hospitable."
Cons:"Language barrier is a big pain, no seasonal variances, Traffic Jams are horrible, heat is unbearable"
In A Nutshell:"Good place, lots of Buddhists temples (Wats), worth staying for 2-3 days"
