My favourite English city I discovered Liverpool in 1969 when we visited in a day trip from a holiday in Southport. It was much like any northern city - run down and run by old men and women who lived forever before 1939 and had no thought of the future. I did however like the city and over the last 40 years have visited many times but not for some years. In 2009 this is a totally transformed city - full of vision and advisers such as Phil Redmond of Brookside fame who are passionate about their city. The tips are based on a February weekend but will build on what will become regular visits. Other northern cities should take note to see how successful regeneration can be done - Liverpool is 10 years in front of all other northern cities. |
