Travelodge Scarborough
I have never stayed here but include as part of these comprehensive Scarborough pages. A wonderful town centre location - only a 2 minute walk from the shopping centre and town centre and the cliff top is a minute away from where you can either walk down to the promenade on the south bay or take the cliff lift.
I have stayed in many Travelodeges across the UK and with the exception of one in the London area they have been very good value for money.
Address: St Nicholas Cliff, Scarborough, YO11 2EU, United Kingdom
Comparison: least expensive
Directions: From the station walk down the shopping precinct in front of you and then turn right when you get to Huntriss Row. At the end of this short street cross the road and the hotel is on the short street across the road on the right.

The Everley
The Everley is a 15 minute drive from Scarborough in a tranquil location in the Forge Valley just on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.
It was originally a farmhouse built in 1754 and now converted in to a luxury hotel and restaurant. We have never stayed here living locally but have eaten several times in the restaurant but we do have friends who have stayed here and it comes well recommended.
The hotel has a very cosy feel to it and the views across the moors from the hotel are stunning.
New for (July) 2008 is a self catering cottage - this can sleep up to 6 people and has its own garden , two bathrooms and stands near the hotel.
There is no public transport in the area the hotel is set in - you must have a car.
Unique Qualities: Very tranquil setting.

Comparison: more expensive than average

The Crown at night
A large hotel that has seen better times but still remains one of the best hotels in Scarborough. The entrance is quite grand but the rooms are in some cases in need of an update. Reasonable restaurant.
Unique Qualities: Excellent location.

The Grand at night
We have not actually stayed here but I have answered a few questions on this hotel in the UK travel forums and it deserves a mention.
The Grand was the towns premier hotel for many years and was built in 1863 as one of Europe's first purpose built hotels. This is a large hotel that was closed a few years ago because of food poisoning but its new owners are clearly trying to regain the reputation of the hotel and are spending £7m on refurbishment. There are 12 floors but at the time of writing I understand only 7 are fully refurbished and open.
Please note - if you want a quiet hotel this is not the hotel for you. It concentrates on coach parties , stag and hen weekends and as you walk by the noise from the live entertainment is er....loud. However I do have a relative who stays here every year and he tells me the rooms are very good and the food good too.
Unique Qualities: The view from the hotel is stunning - it looks across the whole town. Its location is also very good - central for shopping and the tram to the sea front stops nearby. A wonderful central location.

We have not stayed ( we live so close) but this new accomodation has had some good write ups in the local press.
This is four star acomodation within the old railway station house. The trains still stop here on the Scarborough to Hull line but there are no trains through the night and only several through the day.
Unique Qualities: Close to the village centre this would suit people without a car.
I have put satisfied in the ratings and have based this on reviews in the local press.
