A Lovely Little Village in a Beautiful Setting

Our group from the Art
Gallery Society of New South Wales (see my Paris page) had lunch and a look around this lovely little village after our visit to Giverny and Jardien de Monet. Despite the weather being tres ordinaire with overcast conditions and the occasional drop of rain we all enjoyed this place. Was it the lovely lunch with a couple of glasses of good quality vin blanc that prepared us so well to appreciate this village or was it the village itself? A rhetorical question!
Tudor (?) style
After a delightful lunch a the Hotel Normandie (see Restaurant tip when I get it done) we had a stroll around the streets of la petit Andelys. I dropped in a had a brief chat with a local artist. Unfortunately I can't remember his name. His English was probably equally as bad as my French, but we both thoroughly enjoyed conversing.
The photo here shows typical housefronts in the village. Our tourleader (you will see his photo in my restaurant tip) told us that this style originated in the Normandy region and was (I think from memory) taken to Britain either with or after the Norman Invasion. The world now refers to it as "Tudor". If anyone knows anything more specific in regard to this I would love to hear from you.
