Getting TO/AROUND: As others have stated, the Metro is absolutely brilliant for getting around. It takes a day or two to get the hang of......... I only got lost once, but that was quickly rectified by a la belle mademoiselle who spoke quite good English in response to mon petit peu Francais.
If you're staying a week then make sure you get a Carte Orange which costs differing amounts according to how many zones you want to travel through/across. So you'll need to do a bit of research before you go. Best way is to pose a relevant question in the Paris Forum and some of our very helpful Parisien, such as Hamster Huey or Fossettes,(and other) VT members will help.

From the Airports to Paris: Avoid a taxi at any cost (yes a deliberate pun)!

Getting TO/AROUND: Ir you don't feel confident using the Metro/Rail system to get from or back to, Charles de Gaulle (where I came into and left from) then try to get a shuttle, but try to avoid using a taxi.
My hotel couldn't organise a shuttle for me at the time I was leaving on a Friday night (mind you I saw another company's shuttle drive past while I was waiting for my taxi!!) so I took a taxi and it cost me over 40 Euros, by the time I added a tip it worked out pretty close to 90 Australian dollars. So when I say avoid it at all costs I mean that literally and metaphorically.
Again I suggest using the Paris Forum to ask about this.
I just found this url for a website for an airport shuttle - see below
