Vanuatu is made up of 83 island. Vanuatu consists of a young chain of rugged volcanic islands, rising high out of the sea and mountainous. Being located right on the Pacific Rim of Fire, on the subduction zone of two tectonic plates, Vanuatu is often subjuct to earthquakes. Port Vila is the capital of Vanuatu, this is also where the International Airport and main tourist destination lies.
There are several permanently active volcanoes and you can actually observe volcanic eruptions on the islands of Tanna, Ambrym and Lopevi. Two underwater volcanoes to the east of Epi, and you can sometimes detect the boiling of the sea when flying low.

The tradional cultures are very important and still very alive today in Vanuatu. To experience the culture within vanuatu, going to a cultural night or visiting a village is the best way to experience their way of life.
The population of Vanuatu is estimated to be around 220 000 with a majority of people of melanesian origin. Two- thirds of the population live on the four main islands- Vate, Santo, Malekula and Tanna.

Tropical climate with a cooler season between may and october during which you can enjoy some lovley sunny days and a wet season, hot and humid from november to april, with temperatures up to 30 degrees celcius, this season is also known as the cyclone season.
The sea temperature remains pleasant throughout the year varying between 22 and 28 degrees, so you can enjoy a swim all year round.
