Get Ready to Be a Part of It!

I Love the Lights of Broadway

Where else can you get urban funk, broadway flair, conspicious consumption, hotdogs on the corner, and a whole lot of culture in one place except New York City? I agree with this phrase about the city said by Angel, one of my favorite characters in the musical Rent: "New York City, the center of the universe".

I hope you enjoy the tips from my trip as much as I enjoyed being there!

Functional over Fashionable Foot Wear

If there is one pearl of wisdom I can pass on to future visitors of the Big Apple (read my tips for more good stuff) is that YOU NEED COMFORTABLE SHOES. I love a beautiful pair of heels as much as the next woman, but believe me, if you want to get around and don't want to inflict permanent damage to your shins and lower back, pack some shoes you can walk in. I don't know how those girs in Sex and the City do it. Clearly they aren't walking more than 4 blocks. We walked HUNDREDS! So be prepared.

Be adventurous

Venture out of Time's Square and see how New Yorkers live. I went everywhere ... form Morningside Heights (home of Ivy Leaguers at Columbia University), Harlem, Upper East Side, Upper West Side, East Village, and Greenwich Village (home of New York University). Each place has a unique urban feel.

Pros:"Energy, Excitement, Culture and Great Food!"
Cons:"Crowds, Congestion, and Bathrooms in East Village"
In A Nutshell:"Come with lots of energy and comfortable shoes!"
