Here's a bit of a warning: I am not particularly fond of Orlando. I don't like the different theme parks, whether it is Universal, Islands of Adventure, Epcot or Magic Kingdom. I visited most of them - not always against my will, I must admit - and always left the parks with a strange feeling of having been intensely brainwashed by Mickey Mouse and consorts, portraying the illusion of a seemingly perfect world. |
| | For all you travellers out there that want to 'take a short cut', you can go to Epcot that presents 14 countries and its traditions and cultures in a setting that intends to emulate the original. Epcot allowed me to 'visit' China and Japan for example, and maybe one day I will really go there. |
| | What I really like about Orlando though is the fact that it has become a major hub for extreme sports such as wakeboarding and other boarder activities. Surfing spots such as Cocoa Beach are not that far away, around 60 minutes driving |

Marinel Fri Feb 18, 2005 04:34 UTC The saphire is now called the "The Social" and you can find in any given night bands like The Raveonettes or Elefant performing their hits. | morgane1692 Sat Oct 25, 2003 21:13 UTC hey, I applaud your courage in vt-land here to not go off the deep end in praise of all things Disney. I grew up in central FL, I can say this...;-) I'm always looking for MCO pages which don't glorify the Mouse, and there just aren't that many, sighhh... |
