After earthquakes, civil war and corrupt regimes had left Nicaragua as one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, it seems like that the biggest Central American country is finally on the right track towards prosperity.

Investments, especially in Real Estate, are flocking towards Nicaragua, who seem to be poised to compete with its neighbour to the South, Costa RIca, in regards to Eco-tourism, adventure tours and attract retirees to its beaches and charming colonial cities.

The secret is out: Nicaragua has emerged as a very affordable alternative to countries like Costa Rica and Belize. Let's hope that this time around, the people of Nicaragua, of which more than 40% are age 18 and younger, can reap the benefits and not just just the political elite
