The village

Placencia is a very small town in the south of Belize. There are no streets, just one paved path that leads through the village. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxed. If you want to to some fun stuff, there are plenty of options: diving, fishing, visit Mayan ruins, explore caves, canoeing, jungle tours etc.

What's around

From Placencia you can get on a boat to even smaller villages such as Big Creek, and Independence.

Placencia is not overrun yet and one of the best things to do is to hang in a hammock in a cabana and read a book.

That WOULD be surreal, coming out of that cave to a bunch of Mennonites looking at you! Belize is great for diversity like this! : )
