Glenbeigh is a small village that lies on the famous Ring of Kerry route which so many people travel along during Ireland's high season. The village itself is a nice stop on a sunny day and there are several pubs and cafes to have lunch in as well as two hotels and some B&Bs if you want to spend the night. There is also a very cute shop called 'Rumours' that sells everything from cards to cushions - worth a look in. Glenbeigh has been a very popular summer spot for the Irish for generations and as a result there are a lot of trailer parks dotted around that fill up fast during peak times.

What most people come here for though is the local beach known as Rossbeigh and as West coast beaches go, this one is beautiful. With several miles of unbroken coastline and large grassy dunes, it has the much sought after 'Blue Flag' status, which means both water and sand are very clean and safe. You will also find life gaurds posted there during the summer making it a great place for families. A lot of people pitch tents by the sea in the summer and although there is an ongoing dispute about campervans, most years people have been able to park them next to the beach too.

Glenbeigh is beautiful all year round though and if you enjoy wrapping up warm and taking a walk along side the wild Atlantic waves, then visit here during the autumn or spring, get up early and have the place all to yourself. Catch this area on a sunny, winter's day and you'll understand why I live here!
